He has long hair, gloves ready, helmet ready, fingers ready, speed ready, music ready, his name is Jason Becker. I was completely blown away discovering this fabulous musician. Meeting the Marty Freidman that would go on to play with thrash metallers Megadeth, Becker would join with him in the neo-classical group, Cacophony. After the break up of Cacophony, Becker would join forces with David Lee Roth (Van Halen) in his solo group. They would never tour together because Becker would eventually be stricken by ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Being terminated toa wheelchair, Becker would not give up on his pursuit for creation of music. He uses a computer to communicate and compose the music. So far, he has released a few albums, including the renowned first solo album “Perpetual Burn,” featuring Freidman. Becker’s influence of the classical elements of music from Nicholas Paganini to the guitar shredders Yngwie Malmsteen and Steve Vai, proved his ability to pick up the six stringed instrument and really dig it. Below, Becker performs Paganini’s 5th Caprice. Enjoy!!
