Trance, the new album from Richmond indie punk rockers White Laces, has the intense, hypnotizing feel of a dark nostalgia trip. The band sounds a lot like if Wild Nothing and Cymbals Eat Guitars did a collaboration, with it’s hazy, swooning beats and aggressive vocals, and it’s something I really enjoy. In their new track “Nothing Clicks,” a sort of bleak, dismal aura washes over you, and soon enough it has you in it’s clutches. The post-punk/new-wave style of instrumentals sounds clean and evenly distributed, making them the perfect way to ease into the genre. The album is impressive, especially the track “Mountains”, which includes some early 90’s influences, so make sure to give it a listen.
