The magical thing about an Ed Sheeran Concert, which I’d never taken into account until I saw the spectacular show last month; is not just the effortless manner in which he can interact with his thousands of fans at once but the ease in which his poetic rhyming skills link so well with his pure and unplugged voice. Especially in the classics of “A Team” and “Thinking Out Loud”.
Sheeran showed the Manchester ‘Phones 4 U Arena’ to have an angelic voice, but with the nimble work of a word-smith and his rapid-fire punch of “Don’t” blended with Chris Brown’s “Loyal” and Blackstreet’s “No Diggity” he can originally portray a sound which I don’t think many others can. If so, I’d be very surprised if they could do it to the same sky-high standards.
The stage itself was empty, apart from four amps, two mics and his trusty loop pedal. Although a series of vertical screens were shown which created some visual effects there…
