We had taken a night bus to Salta, a city in the north of Argentina where we were both looking forward to a pool. We had changed some dollars at the border and wanted to stay a few days to relax and unwind from the past week of nonstop travel. We Arrived into Salta early in the morning, four hours before the local busses started, so we took the most expensive taxi of our whole trip so far! As Asia was so cheap and the word taxi was a swear word in Europe, (besides it had such great public transport here) we had become adjusted to the average $4-8 taxi in South America. Grabbed the cab and drove to the hostel we had booked. Mind you I had to pick the one hostel that was probably 20 minutes out of town and was shocked at how quickly the meter rose…
